SEBI allows mutual funds to segregate distressed assets

According to media reports, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has allowed mutual funds to resort to side-pocketing in case of debt and money market instruments. SEBI finally eased norms for stressed assets in debt funds. The capital market regulator made weeks of deliberation on the subject following the recent high-rated debt paper defaults by an infrastructure development and finance company.
