SEBI prescribes norms for investment advisors

In the context of the review of the regulation framework for investment advisers, undertaken by SEBI, followed by notification of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Investment Advisers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020 on Jul 3 (effective from Sep 30, 2020), the capital market regulator has issued guidelines to be complied by the Investment Advisers (IA). Highlights of the guidelines include client level segregation of advisory and distribution activities, terms and conditions to be included in the agreement between client and the IA, mode of fee calculation to be charged by IA, and registration as non-individual IA.
