Media reports that Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has asked mutual fund houses to invest only in listed, or to-be-listed securities, for both debt and equity. This will be carried out in a phased manner. The fund companies are also required to lower exposure in unrated debt securities to 5% compared with the earlier limit of 25%. This is part of the regulator’s effort to create a safety net for such instruments.
